From the outset the image of man has been subject of photographic producing. Of particular importance are those photographic pictures that disclose, beyond their being historical documents, new perspectives on human dignity and vulnerability.
Photography witnesses in a special manner the changing point of view of people. Therefore the focus of the F.C. Gundlach Collection is on photographs that show the image of man in his outer appearance – fashion, postures, facial expressions and gestures.
The collection’s underlying comprehension of photography emphasises the dialogue character of the medium, so that one can also find human images of visual artists who work with photography.
