Wilfried Bauer ... they get dressed much nicer...
Kulturhaus Osterfeld
17 January to 08 April 2018
Wilfried Bauer often found peace while taking pictures in nature. Trees and flowers were silent dialogue partners for him and were portrayed sensitively by him. We present portraits of dahlias, tulips and roses from three series. Intense in colour, the photographs show the power of the flowers from blossoming to fading. The title of the exhibition comes from the poem Geh aus mein Herz and seek Freud by Paul Gerhard from 1653.
Wilfried Bauer (1944 - 2005) came into contact with photography very early on. After an apprenticeship as a photographer with his father Jakob Bauer, he was Robert Häusser's assistant in Mannheim from 1964 to 1968. From 1969 to 1976 he worked as a photographer for ZEIT-Magazin and since 1976 as a freelance photographer. He was one of the most sought-after report photographers in Germany. Many of his large photo series were published in the magazines GEO, Stern, FAZ-Magazin, Merian and Der Spiegel.
An exhibition of photographs from the F.C. Gundlach Foundation.
