F.C. Gundlach Foundation
Established by F.C. Gundlach in 2000, the F.C. Gundlach Foundation pursues the aim of promoting photography as an artistically and socially important cultural asset. It manages and presents the F.C. Gundlach Collection, the founder's photographic work and a large number of photographic collections, endowments and estates.
In close cooperation with Haus der Photographie in den Deichtorhallen, founded by F.C. Gundlach in 2003, which manages the core holdings of the collection The Image of Man in Photography and the F.C. Gundlach Library on permanent loan, the F.C. Gundlach Foundation produces exhibitions, photo books and projects.
In my opinion, there is indeed a moral obligation on the collector to make parts or even the whole of his collection public - and not just to do the collector's vanity a favour.
For me I have decided give my collection to a foundation so that it will be continued in my spirit. It is therefore preserved as a living organism and can react to social changes, trends and eventualities.
