The F.C. Gundlach Foundation for Photography
Founded by F.C. Gundlach in 2000, the foundation named after him promotes photography in all its aspects as an artistically and socially significant cultural asset. In addition to the scholarly discussion of photographic issues, the FC Gundlach Foundation looks after and presents both the collection and the photographic work of the founder, as well as a large number of photographic bundles, endowments and estates.
Among other things, the foundation produces exhibitions and photo books, advises photographers, processes estates or passes them on, organizes courses, gives guided tours and is involved in numerous other projects, often in cooperation with museums and galleries in Germany and abroad as well as with photo-historical institutions such as the Deutsche Fotothek in Dresden.
Founder F.C. Gundlach

F.C. Gundlach (born 16 July 1926 in Heinebach, died 23 July 2021 in Hamburg) has dedicated his life to photography as a photographer, gallery owner, entrepreneur, collector and exhibition organizer. In order to secure his life's work and his extensive photo collection and library in the long term and to enable the active, scientific and creative use of his entire photographic legacy, he founded the F.C. Gundlach Foundation during his lifetime, the purpose of which is to promote art, science and research in the field of photography. In 2003, F.C. Gundlach was also the founding director of the House of Photography in the Deichtorhallen Hamburg; his collection The Image of Man in Photography forms the basis of the house's collection as a permanent loan.
