Die Stiftung F.C. Gundlach übernimmt den Vorlass des Fotografen Henrik Spohler

The F.C. Gundlach Foundation acquires the preliminary estate of photographer Henrik Spohler

The F.C. Gundlach Foundation has acquired Henrik Spohler's photographic collection. Since the beginning of the millennium, the photographer's photo series have explored the consequences of modern economic globalization. With this step, the F.C. Gundlach Foundation expands its archive cluster "From Reportage and Journalism to Conceptual Photo Series" with a significant contemporary position. The collection includes hundreds of prints, negatives, transparencies, and digital image data, which are already accessible on the foundation's new website.

In 2000, Henrik Spohler began to explore modern economic globalization and its impact on society and the environment through his photography. He developed a cycle of extensive photographic long-term studies. These address the technical infrastructures of an emerging information age, the changing world of work in increasingly automated industrial production, the consequences of industrial agriculture, the hubs of global trade, and basic research as a driver for future progress. His latest photo project, "Tomorrow Is the Question," showcases state-of-the-art technologies in industry and applied research, and features a dedicated series on humanoid robots, exploring the merging of humans and machines.

Henrik Spohler (born 1965) studied at the Folkwang School/University in Essen and has worked as a freelance photographer since 1992. He has received numerous awards for his work, and his photographs are held in public and private collections. His photographs have been published in six monographs and several anthologies. Since 2009, Henrik Spohler has been a professor at HTW (University of Applied Sciences) in Berlin, teaching photography in the Communication Design program. He lives in Berlin.

Founded by F.C. Gundlach in 2000, the F.C. Gundlach Foundation aims to promote photography in all its aspects as a culturally significant asset, both artistically and socially. In addition to the scholarly discussion of photographic issues, the F.C. Gundlach Foundation manages and presents both the collection and the photographic work of its founder, as well as a variety of photographic compilations, endowments, and estates.
