- 1965: born in Bremen
- 1984: Abitur (higher education entrance qualification) in Bremen
- 1986 - 87: studied Graphic Design at the Hochschule für gestaltende Kunst und Musik, Bremen.
- 1987 - 93: studied Communication Design with a focus on photography under Prof. Inge Osswald at the Folkwang School / University-GHS Essen. Graduated with a diploma.
- Since 1992: freelance photographer for magazines, corporate communications, and advertising.
- Since 2000: working on personal projects
- 2007 - 08: Visiting Professor at the Hochschule für Gestaltung, Karlsruhe
- Since 2009: Professor of Photography at HTW University of Applied Sciences, Berlin
- Henrik Spohler is a member of the DGPH, the photographers' association Freelens, and the photo agency LAIF. He lives and works in Berlin.
