Photographer Andreas Herzau (1962 – 2024) accompanied the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra for several years, both in their hometown of Bamberg and on several concert tours. The result is a multifaceted portrait of the internationally renowned orchestra, featuring unusual perspectives, a play with sharp and blurred focus, and a switch between color and black-and-white photography.

To mark Walter Schels’s 90th birthday, the F.C. Gundlach Foundation and C/O Berlin are presenting the photographer’s first major retrospective in Berlin.

With this pre-mortem bequest, the F.C. Gundlach Foundation expands its archive cluster "From Reportage and Journalism to Conceptual Photo Series" with an important contemporary position.
