Wilfried Bauer ... die ziehen sich viel schöner an ...

Wilfried Bauer ... they dress much more nicely ...

Osterfeld Cultural Center
January 17 to April 8, 2018

Wilfried Bauer often found peace while photographing in nature. Trees and flowers were his silent dialogue partners, and he portrayed them with sensitivity. From three series, we present images of dahlias, tulips, and roses. Intense in their color, the photographs capture the power of the blossoms from their first bloom to their last. The exhibition's title comes from the poem "Go forth, my heart, and seek delight" by Paul Gerhardt, written in 1653.

Wilfried Bauer (1944–2005) came into contact with photography at a very early age. After an apprenticeship with his father, Jakob Bauer, he was Robert Häusser's assistant in Mannheim from 1964 to 1968. From 1969 to 1976, he was a photographer for ZEIT magazine and worked freelance from 1976 onward. He was one of Germany's most sought-after reportage photographers. Many of his major photo essays were published in magazines such as GEO , Stern , FAZ-Magazin , Merian , and Der Spiegel .

A photo exhibition from the F.C. Gundlach Foundation.
